Military vehicles are specifically engineered and built to operate in hostile and awkward conditions, both about surroundings and stresses: rough and bumpy roads, step turns, high speeds and sudden stops generate (even on the inner equipments) high vibrations and acceleration levels.Furthermore the onboard operations (e.g. firearms) , as well as outside blast create high level strains on the whole vehicle body and its technological content.
Taken for granted the vehicle sturdiness and intrinsic safety, the inner devices shall be safeguarded both from shocks and vibration, especially electronic and optical ones, whose performance could be compromised by unfiltered forces, affecting the safety of the crew, of the veichle and of the mission. In some cases, to achieve the best performance of the onboard devices, non-magnetic special steels must be used to build the elastic mounts. Not least, also the engine vibrations must be considered to lower the noise emissions outside the vehicle and reduce its detectability in environments where this requirement is needed.
