Our laboratory

Once the dampers have been produced, the technical office takes care of testing them both to verify their foreseen behavior by the design study, and to continue optimizing them. The tests can be performed by creating equipment that simulates the operation of the devices when subjected to quasi-static compression, tension or shear loads.

When the loads are greater or must be applied with a peculiar dynamic, a closed loop control system is used: which, connected to the PC and to a 100kN INSTRON 1341 dynamometer, allows to visualize and record the responses of the dampers subject to the measuring instrument with loads of different shapes, amplitudes and frequencies ranging from 0 Hz up to few Hz. The data are mainly used for: the construction of hysteresis cycles, the evaluation of percentage damping coefficients and the study of devices stabilization.

Shock Analysis

The purpose of this analysis is to verify that the isolated system is able to withstand shock, foreseeing its dynamic responses (displacements, velocities and accelerations) and mechanical responses (stresses and deformations).

FEM analysis of dynamic behavior:

modeling of the damper-apparatus system;
definition of the shapes of shock acting as "input acceleration" functions;
determination of system vibration modes;
determination of dynamic responses (displacements, velocities and residual accelerations of the apparatus)

FEM analysis of mechanical behavior:

modeling of the apparatus, paying particular attention to all its components;
application of residual accelerations greater than those estimated in the dynamic analysis (to be in favor of safety);
determination of mechanical responses (deformations and strains);
evaluation of possible interventions, in presence of highly critical areas of the apparatus.
