Transportations: when vibration analysis is required

In everyday life, technological innovations always bring us newer and newer advanced solutions, eases and benefits, but these things need more and more complex and sensitive technological infrastructures.Due to the extensive distributions of these structures (e.g. cell towers, power plants, vehicles monitoring and control systems), their logistic represents, for the transportation system, a more advanced need about reliability and certainty in order to avoid damages on the handled goods.

As far as the new vehicles, specifically duty-engineered, together with the choice of smooth routes, can strongly decrease the stresses on the transported items, residual values, sometimes, cannot be reduced to acceptable values for very sensitive devices (e.g. artworks, very high precision instruments). The stresses generated from transportations and created during the system operations (when permanently installed onboard, as electronic devices or refrigerating equipments) can be different in values and shapes, depending on the vehicle (aircraft, truck, train…), so there is the need to consider which are the forces/shocks/vibrations to be restrained to protect the devices.

To this end it’s essential to install, between the vehicle loading platform and the transported items, suitable elastic mounts to handle vibrations (coming from the road roughness, for instance) and accelerations (take offs, sudden decelerations) or shocks (especially during handling operations): these devices shall therefore ensure the right compromise between the borne item stability and an adequate filtering of the potentially dangerous fatigue.
